Privacy Policy

This describes how House of Bhangra handles information collected through this website — creating an account, adding a kid to your family profile, reserving or canceling a free workshop, joining our interest list, and using the contact form. See also our Terms & Conditions.

Information we collect

• Account info: your name, email address, and a password. Your password is stored as a one-way hash — we never store or email it in plain text.
• Family info: if you add a kid to reserve a spot for them, their name and age.
• Workshop activity: which free workshops you or your kids reserve or cancel.
• Contact form: your name, email, role (prospective student, parent/guardian, current student, or instructor/staff), and your message. We save it in our database and email it to our inbox so we can reply, and we keep it until you ask us to delete it.
• Interest list: if you join our interest list, your name, email address, optional phone number, whether you're signing up as an adult student, a parent or guardian, or a teen student with a parent or guardian, the classes you're interested in, your preferred location and days and times, any comments, and whether you opted in to promotional updates. We email each sign-up to our inbox and also keep it in our database, so we can plan classes and send updates to everyone on the list. We keep it until you ask us to remove it.
• Page counts: we count visits to each page per day, along with the site the visitor came from. This uses no cookies, stores no IP address and nothing that identifies you, and we skip visitors who send a Do Not Track signal.
• Technical info: we briefly record the IP address behind a sign-up, contact form, interest-list sign-up, or password-reset request, solely to block automated abuse. These records aren't tied to your profile and age out on their own.

Children's information

Under 18s can't create their own account (see our Terms). Any information about a child — just their name and age — is entered by their parent or guardian, who is the actual account holder. We don't knowingly collect information directly from children, and we don't collect anything about a kid beyond what's needed to reserve their spot: no contact info, no photos. A kid's info is only ever visible to their own parent's account. Our interest list asks that anyone under 18 complete it together with a parent or guardian.

How we use your information

• To create and manage your account.
• To hold your spot at workshops you reserve, and let you or us manage or cancel them.
• To send you transactional emails: a welcome email, workshop confirmations and cancellations, and password resets.
• To email you updates about classes, workshops, and registration if you join our interest list. We only send promotional emails to people who checked the promotional-updates box, and we don't send marketing email to anyone who hasn't asked for it. You can unsubscribe at any time at /unsubscribe.
• To respond if you write in through the contact form.
• To detect and prevent abuse of the sign-up, contact, interest-list, and password-reset forms.

How we store and protect your information

Account and workshop data lives in a Postgres database hosted by Supabase. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt before storage. Staying signed in uses a secure, httpOnly cookie that JavaScript can't read. Password reset links are single-use and expire after one hour.

Who we share information with

We don't sell your information, and we don't share it with advertisers. Two services process it strictly to run the site: Supabase (hosts our database) and Google/Gmail (sends the transactional emails above, from houseofbhangranj@gmail.com). Neither uses your information for their own purposes. We don't run any analytics or advertising trackers on this site today — we'll update this page if that ever changes.

Cookies

Just one: the session cookie that keeps you signed in. No advertising or analytics cookies.

Your choices

You can remove a kid you've added from your profile at any time. To review, correct, or delete any other information — including deleting your account entirely — email us at the address below.

How long we keep information

We keep your account information for as long as you have an account. If you ask us to delete your account, we'll delete your personal information — name, email, password hash, and any kids on the account — within a reasonable time, except where we need to keep something briefly for security reasons (like the abuse-prevention records described above).

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site grows — for example, when the student, parent, and instructor portals launch. We'll update the date above when that happens.
